Scott is about to start school so we decided we better take a vacation before it is too late. I have a feeling we won't be going on another vacation until next summer. We decided to check out Chicago. Before we left we had a huge storm that blew down part of our patio fence. We were glad to get out of Des Moines and its crazy weather for a weekend. We have some good friends that live in Indiana, close to Chicago, so they were nice enough to let us stay with them for a few days. It was about 6 hours to drive to their house. Jacob was really good in the car. We figured out on the way home that he got his bottom 2-year molars in. They are already half way in and he hasn't even been cranky. The first day we went up to Lake Michigan and went swimming. It looked just like the ocean. The water was clear and there was a big beach to play on. Jacob though it was a little bit cold and ended up loving the sand more than anything. The next day we went to Chicago. There were crazy toll roads, which I had never experienced in my life. That was new and I don't understand why you have to pay to drive on a road. That will always be silly to me. I made Scott drive because I thought the traffic was crazy. I guess it wasn't even as bad as it usually is. I'm definitely not a big city girl and I told Scott I refuse to live in a big city like that. On the flip side it has a lot of amazing stuff there. We went to the Lincoln Park zoo that was really awesome. They had animals I haven't seen before. Jacob LOVES animals and so of course he enjoyed it all. Next we went to the Navy Pier and walked around for awhile. There were a lot of huge boats and little shops. Jacob successfully ate an ice cream cone without making a huge mess. It was so adorable to watch.
Looks like some great sightseeing! I think it's neat to be able to see other parts of the country. Love the pics! Wish I could be there with you! Love ya all!
